Dear Colleagues and Friends,

It is with immense pride and joy that I welcome you to AFPICON Kerala 2027, the 11th Annual State Conference of the Academy of Family Physicians of India, Kerala Chapter. This conference represents a significant milestone in our journey to advance family medicine in our state.

Over the years, family medicine in Kerala has evolved from a reactive, illness‑based approach to a proactive, preventive, and holistic model of care. The COVID-19 pandemic underscored the critical role of family physicians as the first line of defence in community health. It also highlighted the need for resilience, adaptability, and continuous learning – qualities that define the spirit of family medicine in Kerala.

Under the theme "From Prescriptions to Prevention – Family Medicine for a Healthier Future," we have curated a programme that addresses the needs of modern family practice. Our scientific sessions, workshops, and panel discussions will explore everything from evidence-based medicine to emerging technologies, from procedural skills to palliative care.

AFPICON is not just a conference; it is a celebration of our shared commitment to improving the health of our communities. It is a platform to learn, unlearn, and relearn. It is where we forge connections that transcend the boundaries of practice and geography.

I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the organising committee, the scientific committee, and all our members for their unwavering support. I also thank our sponsors and partners for making this event possible.

To our delegates – the family physicians, postgraduate trainees, and healthcare professionals – I say this: You are the heartbeat of AFPI Kerala. Your presence here is a testament to your dedication to the profession and your patients.

Let us come together, share our knowledge, celebrate our achievements, and chart a path forward for family medicine in Kerala.

Warm regards,
Dr. Joice Joseph

Dear Esteemed Colleagues,

On behalf of the Academy of Family Physicians of India, Kerala Chapter, I extend a warm welcome to AFPICON Kerala 2027. This conference is the culmination of months of planning, collaboration, and dedication, and I am delighted to see our vision come to life.

Family medicine is the cornerstone of a resilient healthcare system. In Kerala, we have a unique opportunity to shape the future of primary care – a future where family physicians are not just clinicians but also educators, advocates, and community leaders. The theme of this year's conference, "From Prescriptions to Prevention," challenges us to think beyond the consultation room and embrace a broader perspective on health.

I am particularly excited about the diverse scientific programme we have assembled. Our workshop sessions, led by renowned experts, will equip you with practical skills that you can apply immediately in your practice. The guest lectures and panel discussions will challenge your thinking and inspire you to adopt innovative approaches to patient care.

We have also made a conscious effort to create spaces for networking and collaboration. Whether it is over coffee, during the gala dinner, or in the exhibition hall, I encourage you to connect with your peers, share your experiences, and build relationships that will enrich your professional journey.

To our postgraduate trainees and young family physicians: You are the future of our specialty. Your energy, ideas, and enthusiasm are what will drive family medicine forward in the years to come. I urge you to engage actively in all sessions and to seize every learning opportunity that AFPICON offers.

I take this opportunity to thank the organizing team, the scientific committee, and every volunteer who has contributed to making AFPICON Kerala 2027 a reality. Your dedication is truly commendable.

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you to AFPICON Kerala 2027, the 11th Annual State Conference of the Academy of Family Physicians of India Kerala Chapter, to be held on 9th and 10th January 2027 at Gokulam Grand, Kozhikode.

This year's conference is built around the theme:

“FROM PRESCRIPTIONS TO PREVENTION:
FAMILY MEDICINE FOR A HEALTHIER FUTURE”

Family Medicine has always been about much more than treating diseases. It is about understanding the person behind the illness, caring for individuals and families across their lifespan, promoting health, preventing disease, and providing continuous, comprehensive and compassionate care.

As healthcare continues to evolve, the need to move from a predominantly disease-focused approach towards prevention, wellness and proactive care has never been greater.

Through AFPICON Kerala 2027, we hope to explore this journey together, combining scientific learning, practical skills, innovation and meaningful professional interaction.

We have planned an exciting academic programme with engaging scientific sessions, hands-on workshops, research presentations and opportunities to learn from experts and colleagues. Equally important, AFPICON will be a platform to connect, collaborate and strengthen our growing Family Medicine community.

We are delighted to welcome you to Kozhikode, a city known for its rich history, warm hospitality and vibrant culture. We look forward to making AFPICON Kerala 2027 not just an academic conference, but a memorable experience for every delegate.

I warmly invite Family Physicians, General Practitioners, postgraduate trainees, interns and all doctors interested in strengthening primary care to join us in this journey.

Come, learn together.
Connect with colleagues.
Share experiences.

See you in Kozhikode!

With warm regards,
Dr. Nadeem Abootty

Message from the Secretary, AFPI Kerala

Dr. Mansoor P M | Secretary, AFPI Kerala

Dear Members and Colleagues,

It is my privilege to welcome you to AFPICON Kerala 2027. As the Secretary of AFPI Kerala, I have had the opportunity to witness first-hand the dedication and commitment of our members to advancing family medicine in our state. This conference is a testament to that spirit.

The theme "From Prescriptions to Prevention" is particularly close to my heart because it encapsulates the essence of what we do as family physicians. Prevention is not just about screening and early detection – it is about empowering our patients to take charge of their own health. It is about addressing the social determinants of health, promoting healthy lifestyles, and creating communities that are resilient and thriving.

In Kerala, we have a rich tradition of community-based healthcare. Our family physicians are trusted by their patients, respected by their communities, and valued as the cornerstone of the healthcare system. It is this trust that we must protect and nurture.

At AFPICON 2027, we have created a programme that reflects the diversity and depth of family medicine. From the latest research to practical clinical skills, from leadership development to wellness for healthcare providers, there is something for everyone. I encourage you to make the most of this opportunity – attend sessions that challenge you, connect with colleagues who inspire you, and take back ideas that will transform your practice.

I also want to acknowledge the hard work of the organizing team, the scientific committee, and all the volunteers who have contributed to this conference. Your dedication and enthusiasm are the driving forces behind the success of AFPI Kerala.

To our younger colleagues and postgraduate trainees: I urge you to embrace the full spectrum of family medicine. The road ahead is challenging, but it is also incredibly rewarding. As family physicians, we have the privilege of caring for people throughout their lives, and that is a gift that we must cherish.

As we meet in Calicut – the historic city of spices and the gateway to Kerala's rich cultural heritage – let us build bridges of knowledge, friendship, and collaboration that will carry us forward into the future.

Warm regards,
Dr. Mansoor P M
Secretary, AFPI Kerala
